We have 2 dozen, 18 adults and 6 chicks just hatched. Even though they are just silkies and the eggs are smaller they are still great meals. I never order eggs at a diner. We don't eat the chickens either. Too small. The Japanese eat them as a delicacy- they are black skinned. They are my wife's pets and you just don't eat your "friends". We grow kale and swiss chard just for the chickens. They will eat just about anything but you really have to watch their diet or problems will arise.
