My personal observations are that, regardless of how well the earlier version of body armor performed, the new version performs much better in several different ways, such as capacity to withstand impact and vast reduction in the amount of bulging on the backside of the armor plate resulting from impact. Of course, multiple impact performance without failure remains a remarkably nice feature.
