April 20, 2016 05:15 PM EDT
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, in partnership with several local Hamilton sporting institutions, will host the first-ever Tiger-Cats Community Softball Classic, presented by Enercare, on Sunday, May 15 at 12 p.m. Free tickets are available at Ticats.ca/softball.
The event, which will take place at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium in Hamilton, will feature a star-studded lineup of Tiger-Cats players including, Simoni Lawrence, CJ Gable, Brandon Banks, John Chick, and more. They will be joined by Tiger-Cat alumni and a wealth of local talent from the Hamilton Bulldogs, Hamilton Cardinals, and McMaster Marauders, as well as a number of local celebrities and special guests.
In addition to the softball game, which begins at 1 p.m., the afternoon will feature a home run derby (12 p.m.) and a post-game autograph session (3 p.m.) for those in attendance.
Gates open at 11 a.m. with a Fan Fest that includes Dirty South and The Salted Pig food trucks, appearances by team mascots Stripes, Bruiser the Bulldog, and Mac the Marauder, the Tiger-Cats Cheerleaders, face painting, inflatables, and other fun activities for the whole family.
Tickets to the Tiger-Cats Community Softball Classic, presented by Enercare, are free and available at Ticats.ca/softball. Every fan in attendance will be entered to win a spot on each of the two star-studded rosters for the game in addition to other great prizing, including: two tickets to the 104th Grey Cup in Toronto, a trip for four to Montreal to see the Tiger-Cats take on the Alouettes, four pairs of tickets to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Canada Day home opener, signed jerseys, bats, balls and more!
The event is in support of two community initiatives that are especially meaningful to the Ticats—the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation and Hamilton Challengers Baseball.
“It’s a priority for us to deliver exceptional experiences across the community for our fans, and an afternoon of softball and other family friendly activities is a unique opportunity to do that,” said Matt Afinec, Chief Commercial Officer for the Tiger-Cats. “It will be exciting to have Hamilton’s leading sports teams come together to create this special event in support of two very worthy community partners in the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation and Hamilton Challengers Baseball.”
Tim Horton Children’s Foundation provides camp experiences for more than 17,000 underprivileged children each year. Hamilton Challengers Baseball is a not-for-profit organization that strives to provide high quality athletic and social activities for physically and/or cognitively challenged youth and adults in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive event merchandise on site, including on-field custom Tiger-Cats baseball jerseys and ball caps. All game-worn merchandise will be auctioned off on Ticats.ca following the event, with proceeds from all sales going to benefit the two charities.
