Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee meets Hawaii fans

Hawaii fans were eager to meet Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee over the weekend at the Outer Realms comic book store.

Some waited for hours, while others dressed for the occasion; one autograph at a time, they greeted the man of the hour.

"People of Hawaii are the most spirited, the most friendly, most interesting anywhere -- and that Aloha spirit seems to prevail…it's all over," Lee said.

Lee's last official appearance in the islands was at the 2015 Amazing! Hawaii Comic Con -- fans say it's always a treat to see him.

"Without Stan there is no Marvel. It's just amazing to have him out here again," said Robert Amerman, the first fan in line.

For 93-year-old Lee, he has a busy schedule -- the man who created superheros including Spiderman, Ironman and Thor says he's still working.

"I have a couple of surprises coming up. I have a new movie that I'm working on called The Annihilator that probably will be out another year," said Lee.

The work ethic and passion are just a couple of the qualities many admire in Lee.

"They want to get Stan to sign it, have it certified that Stan signed it, and they'll also get a grade on that as well too. And then they've got it. And that's across the nation, across the planet accepted value," said Charles Whitesell, owner of Outer Realms.

But for one of the greatest comic book creators of all time, what he values is meeting his fans.

"I love meeting the fans and greeting them and seeing that they still care about all the things that I had been working on for so many years. It's quite a thrill," said Lee.
