If you like the Glock, stay with it. It popular and parts are cheap.

Glock, Springfield - XD & XDm, SW M&P. Walther PPQ (nice trigger), HK-VP9, at the higher priced end. None would be considered high priced compared to ammo and Range costs over time.

All good. Everyone has a favorite. There are others. The above is my short list.

Go to a Range. Rent a couple that fit your hand well. See how well you shoot with it. Take a class. Read. Keep learning.

Buy one. Buy what you think you will carry. The worst gun is one you won't carry. Practice. Dry fire. Get used to the slide.

Practice at the Range with ball ammo, AND the hollow point ammo you intend to use for SD. Shooting is a perishable skill.

Don't buy much hollow point ammo till you are happy with one that works in your gun. It's expensive.
