400 kilovolt interconnection line between Albania and Kosovo ends in mid June. The news was announced by Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri which together with the administrator of the Transmission System Operator Zeqo z.Engjëll inspected works for the imposing columns of the last segment-Fierzë Koman.

Gjiknuri Minister announced that he will continue with other projects and next year begins line with Macedonia for which funding already secured.

The new line of 400 kV interkojneksionit Tirana2 - Kosovo b is funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW Bank, with a value of 42 million Euro for the Albanian project. The 400 kV line will have a length of 242 km of which 155.5 km in the territory of Albania and the rest about 90 km in the territory of Kosovo. The project, in addition to increasing the capacity of the electricity exchange and network reliability in the region, will enable optimal resource utilization common electricity to Kosovo and Albania given their complementary nature.
