Walmart drops discount to 50 percent off at closing stores

Walmart is offering an even deeper discount at locations it will be closing by the end of the month.

Prices at the closing locations were reduced by 25 percent on Monday. On Friday, the discount was upped to 50 percent off.

Walmart is closing 269 stores worldwide, including 154 locations in the U.S. Nine stores in Alabama are set to close: the Walmart Supercenter in Fairfield and smaller Walmart Express locations in Grant, Headland, Ashford, Slocomb, Abbeville, Gurley, Snead and New Hope.

The stores are set to close on Jan. 28.

Not everything will discounted, however. Alcohol, fuel, prescriptions, firearms, ammunition, jewelry and wireless aren't included in the sale. Lottery tickets, where are available, are also exempt. You can see a complete list of national closings here.
