Rules DO Matter, even for Clintons. Campaign warned to keep Bill from electioneering. UPDATES!

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has been “reminded” not to solicit votes near polling sites after President Bill Clinton ventured into a polling location in Boston on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office said.

Massachusetts election rules forbid the solicitation of a vote for or against a candidate, party, or position within 150 feet of a polling place.

Alongside fellow Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Clinton greeted election workers and voters on Tuesday at the Holy Name Church, a polling location in West Roxbury. The former president chatted up voters, kissed an old lady on the head, posed for photos, and bought a cup of coffee,MassLive reports.

… The visit to West Roxbury was the first of four planned stops Clinton made in Massachusetts on Tuesday to promote the candidacy of his wife Hillary.

Would we put up with this if it were a Republican ex-president. Even Jimmy Carter knows not to show up inside polling places to take photos with voters.

If you can’t have somewhere wearing a t-shirt that says “Vote for Clinton” within 150 feet, you are truly playing games if you think an actual Clinton inside the polling place is okay.

UPDATE: According to the Globe via Boston Magazine, Clinton told a voter inside the polling place to “pull the lever for Hillary”.

Is this enough electioneering for Clinton fans to finally see there might be an issue with his behavior? If Jane Sanders was inside a polling place — after introducing herself to a voter who doesn’t recognize her — and said “Pull the lever for Bernie!”, your heads would explode. This is NOT okay, not a joke. If they’ll play this fast and loose with laws about voting — the foundation of our democracy — what will they do with the reins of the entire government? You may find the laws quaint, but they’re there for a reason, and frankly I would love to be able to vote for someone who doesn’t think laws about the sanctity of our votes are only for the fools who honor them.

UPDATE II: “I ESPECIALLY THANK THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE HERE TO SUPPORT HILLARY”

After the poll watchers told Bernie supporters they had to go down to the corner with their signs, Bill Clinton stood outside the polling place — closer than the Bernie supporters had been — and thanked everyone for voting — especially people voting for Hillary.
