Why would Dart (or anyone) want to buy 850,000 preferred shares for the same cost as 18.5 million common shares? The preferred have an 8:1 conversion. That means for the same cost he would only get 6.8 million common shares upon conversion. Maybe he expects the common shares to be worth a lot more in the foreseeable future, and wants the extra 12 million shares in his account.
