Eric still hasn't figured it out that one of the reasons the company did so well in the earlier years was because he had the shareholders behind him 100%. Then he got stupid and decided to lie and take advantage of them and now sales are tanking. Small companies trying to get off the ground need their shareholders more than anyone but Eric has completely destroyed any relationship with his shareholders and he will never get them back again. Every time he tries to BS shareholders it just brings back old memories.
