I think Greece desperately wants to stay in the EU. Leaving would have consequences that can't really be predicted, but they'd probably be very negative.

Personally, though, I believe Greece's creditors should lighten up. The country's economy will never improve with draconian austerity measures in place. That's one reason our own economy recovered from the 2008 collapse much faster than Europe has.
