Hi Neko, As a general rule banks are not good places to invest your savings. They're fine for holding a checking and savings account, and perhaps getting a loan, but they're experts on sucking you dry with fees.
Vanguard is great for funds and ETFs with very low expenses, and I think if he opens an account with them they charge no commissions on their products.
