rooster, was it Jindal's anti-education creationist bent

And unbelievably, he didn't even make the list!

Who is the worst Republican governor?

This has been a difficult diary to write—not because it is a difficult subject, but because it was so hard to narrow it down to just four governors. Describing the damage that the 31 current Republican governors have done to the United States (and to their own states) would likely take a tome the length of War and Peace. You don’t have the time to read that, and as these men and women are still in office it would be impossible to keep up with the garbage legislation they keep unleashing on their citizens. So let’s just keep it to the top (er, bottom) four:

4. — Maine Gov. Paul LePage. This is a man who does not have the qualifications to be the county dog catcher. Yet inexplicably, he’s the governor of Maine. He is so petty that shortly after he took office he ordered murals representing working men and women taken down, as they were “pro-union.”

Now, if that was all he did he would not have made this list. But Gov. LePage is the gift that just keeps on giving. He has no filter when talking about his opponents—think Donald Trump, but worse. In short, he is a bully. Oh, and a racist too.

But no, we aren’t done yet: He used his political power to have an opponent fired from a job at a charter school. This brief write-up only scratches the surface of Gov. LePage. He is an awful human being, on top of being a lousy governor.

3. — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. My governor. A couple of years ago he would have been No. 1 on this list. He gutted public unions in Wisconsin, made Wisconsin a right-to-work state, and slashed public education from kindergarten all the way to the university system. Along the way he has made it harder for people to vote and gerrymandered the state legislature. He is such a dishonest man that he cannot even tell the truth about his bald spot.

2. — Florida Gov. Rick Scott. There are a lot of reasons for Gov. Scott to be on this list. But There’s only one reason he is No. 2 on this list: Tenet Healthcare failed to live up to Florida quality standards for children's heart surgery. Instead of fixing the problem, you know, like a responsible organization charged with the care of children should do, they donated $200,000 to Florida Republicans.

Less than two months later, the state of Florida got rid of the standards that Tenet Healthcare could not live up to. Standards that had been in place since 1977 and were the model for many other states. It takes a special kind of evil to harm children—and Gov. Scott has done just that.

1. — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder. Where to start with Gov. Snyder? He has done so much damage to Michigan. Emergency Managers? Right-to-work? Or the myriad of other legislation that has passed on his watch which has damaged Michigan and has done nothing to serve its people?

Of course the reason for his No.1 spot on this list is the man-made disaster in Flint. There is a special place in hell for Gov. Snyder, whose actions are responsible for the toxic water pollution which resulted in the lead poisoning of the people of Flint, Michigan. We live in the richest country in the world—and in the quest to save a couple of bucks, Gov. Snyder poisoned the very people he was elected to serve.
