The jobs are going away no matter what. In time they will be replaced by a printer in your home or a robot on the floor. The items will be delivered by a drone or some other automated delivery (Elon Musk's tube). We shouldn't make the same mistake we made with the steel industry opting for less efficient methods in order to save doomed jobs. My opinion is that it is well into the future, but let's not give away the industry to save the jobs.
