As a rule of trading, I learned a long time ago that most of the time a stock will short term crash yet during a pending rev split. It tends to scare people away from it once that news is announced.
Sometimes a stock will go higher after rev split news, etc, but most of the time statistically they don't, so i simply avoid anything with a rev split, and re-assess it afterwards, etc.
Yes, as you say it'll have a low float after the split, but that is later on (not now), so it doesn't make sense to gamble with odds against a person, hoping it won't fall lower in the interim on the rev split news.
