wilma: As far as I know there is not status of 'active.' It should just say 'patented case.' If you click on the Continuity tab, you will see the first non-provisional priority date as October 3, 1995. The patent expired on October 3, 2015 - along with a group of NeoMedia patents, all called NeoMedia's core patents. To see those, look under 'child continuity data' and then click on the patent number assigned to the October 3 filing and read again under 'child continuity data.' There should be about 12 expired patents.
