Jon Ritzheimer, 32, of Arizona, posted a video in which he was in a car driving to New York with a gun to confront members of a Muslim group in upstate New York.

After tracing the cross-country movements of a menacing anti-Muslim rabble-rouser from Arizona, the FBI took the unusual step of issuing an alert to New York law enforcement agencies to look out for him, sources said.

The FBI got involved after a Muslim group based near Albany notified the agency that Jon Ritzheimer, 32, of Phoenix had posted a video on Nov. 18 in which he showed a gun, made profane anti-Obama statements and said he was driving cross-country to confront them, sources and a group spokesman said.

Agents were able to talk with him initially, but two days later, when he was in Scranton, Penn., he got angry and cut off communication with them. At that point, the alert, citing a “potential threat to law enforcement,” was issued, sources said.

Ritzheimer, a former Marine, has made threats against Muslims a personal cause. He has organized an armed protest at a Phoenix mosque, threatened to “arrest” all senators who voted for President Obama’s nuclear pact with Iran, and encouraged all Americans to carry rifles in public for protection against terrorists.

Ritzheimer’s destination was the property in Hancock, N.Y of a group called the Muslims of America, which publishes a newspaper, The Islamic Post, which recently labeled him an “American Taliban.”

Ritzheimer bellows in the video that he’s “going to see those assholes who called me a f------ terrorist.”

He continues, “F--k you Muslims. We're gonna stop at virtually every mosque along the way, flip them off and tell them to get f-----.”

He then cocks the slide on a handgun.

He also insults President Obama: “And Obama, you stupid sorry sack of sh--t, you wanna come out and say we're all afraid of these poor little widows and orphans? F--k you. That's not what's coming over here … And guess what: We're f-----g ready for them.”

Ritzheimer deleted the video the same day he posted it, but not until after he had received numerous "likes" from his Facebook friends.

He did not respond to two requests for comment made this week to his Facebook page.

A spokeswoman for the FBI's Albany field office declined to discuss the specifics of the investigation or Ritzheimer’s whereabouts.

“The FBI vigorously investigates threats and allegations of hate crimes,” she said. “After recently becoming aware of a video which could have been perceived as threatening against the Muslim community in Hancock, N.Y., the FBI immediately took steps to notify our federal, state and local partners.”

The New York State Police and the NYPD declined to comment.

On his Facebook page, Ritzheimer calls himself a "three-percenter," a reference to the 3% of the population of the American colonies that actively fought the British during the Revolutionary War. He describes his profession as "rogue infidel" and motorcycle mechanic.

"We get harassed like this all the time, so we let the FBI know as soon as we saw the video," said Muhammad Matthew Gardner, a spokesman for the group. "We weren't surprised because of what he’s said and done before. We upped our security at all our properties."

Gardner added he was surprised that the FBI didn't detain Ritzheimer immediately or at least question him about his anti-Obama remarks.

This isn't the first time the Hancock group has been targeted. In May, Robert Doggart, a former Tennessee congressional candidate, was arrested for plotting to firebomb the property.

Doggart had written on his Facebook page: "We shall be Warriors who will inflict horrible numbers of casualties upon the enemies of our Nation and World Peace."

Later, in a phone call to an informant he thought was an accomplice, he said: "Those guys [OUGHT OR HAVE]to be killed. Their buildings need to be burnt down."

In July, Doggart pleaded guilty to one count of interstate communication of threats, and was placed under house arrest and ordered to seek counseling. A judge rejected the plea deal on technical grounds and the case is still pending.

Upstate New York town threatened by Arizona man in online post: reports

By Chris Michaud
Sun Nov 29, 2015 4:35am EST

Residents and authorities in a rural upstate New York community were taking precautions after an Arizona man posted a video online showing himself with a gun and saying he was traveling to the town for a possible confrontation, according to media reports.

Jon Ritzheimer, of Phoenix, Arizona, was seen with a gun and claiming that he was heading to Islamberg, a rural hamlet that is home to a small Muslim community about 130 miles northwest of New York City, the reports said. His comments could be viewed as threatening, they said.

Ritzheimer posted the video on Facebook, according to the reports.

New York City's Daily News, citing sources, reported that the FBI had issued an alert to law enforcement agencies to look out for him.

"After recently becoming aware of a video which could have been perceived as threatening against the Muslim community in Hancock, N.Y., the FBI immediately took steps to notify our federal, state and local partners,” the paper quoted a spokeswoman for the FBI's Albany field office as saying.

Neither the FBI or Ritzheimer could be contacted immediately by Reuters.

It was at least the second threat against the town this year, after an ex-Congressional candidate from Tennessee was accused of plotting to burn down a mosque and use an assault rifle against anyone who tried to stop him.

Robert Doggart, who made a failed bid for Congress in 2014 as an independent with highly conservative views, pleaded guilty in April to interstate communication of threats.

Formed by a group of African-American Muslims from New York City, the community follows the teachings of Pakistani Sufi cleric Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, who during the 1980s urged his American acolytes to leave metropolitan areas and establish rural communities centered on religious life.

Islamberg is one of about a dozen Muslim enclaves formed in accordance with the cleric's ideas. It also serves as home to Muslims of America, a Gilani-founded organization.

The Muslims of America have called for Ritzheimer's arrest, according to the reports.

"We let the FBI know as soon as we saw the video," a report quoted spokesman Muhammad Matthew Gardner as saying. "We upped our security at all our properties."

Anti-Islam Group Posts Muslims' Personal Info on Facebook

Irving, Texas, is becoming a hotbed of Islamophobia.

By Willa Frej

An anti-Islam group in the Dallas, Texas, suburb of Irving publicized the names and addresses of over 60 Muslims and Muslim "sympathizers" on its Facebook page.

The Bureau of American Islamic Relations’ post targets those who spoke out against a controversial Irving City Council vote on Islamic tribunals [ http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro/20150319-dispute-on-islam-roils-irving.ece ]. In March, the council backed a state bill that would limit Muslim influence.

Mayor Beth Van Duyne accused Irving's Muslim community of using Sharia law to bypass state and federal legislation to mediate disputes through an Islamic tribunal. The Islamic Center of Irving issued a statement [ http://irvingmasjid.org/index.php/ici-statement-regarding-sharia-court ] that denies the existence of a Sharia court but confirms the existence of a tribunal.

BAIR describes itself on its Facebook page as an "organization that stands in opposition (on all levels)" to Islamic groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations [ https://www.facebook.com/CAIRNational/?rf=503725829682615 ].

Alia Salem, executive director of the Dallas/Fort Worth branch of CAIR, said the publication marked the first time she had felt slightly alarmed over anti-Islamic sentiment. “As bad as things have gotten in the past, and especially recently, this is the first time where I see people taking this public," she told the Dallas Morning News [ http://irvingblog.dallasnews.com/2015/11/group-that-brought-guns-to-irving-mosque-publishes-muslims-home-addresses.html/ ].

Others on the list [id.] fear the consequences of their personal information getting into the wrong hands.

The post has yet to be taken down from Facebook, which goes against the website's Community Standards. Facebook policy is to remove content when it presents a "genuine risk of physical harm or direct threats to public safety [ https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards ]."

Neither Facebook nor the Irving Police Department immediately returned requests for comment.

BAIR also protested outside of Irving's mosque Saturday [ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/irving-texas-armed-mosque-protest_5651eddfe4b0d4093a581d14 ], where they toted shotguns and held signs that stated, "Stop the Islamization of America" and "The solution to Islamic terrorism."

BAIR spokesman David Wright said they were also protesting Syrian refugees coming to America [ http://www.fox4news.com/news/52977915-story ] and that he believes that people are scared.

"They're scared to say anything about it," he told Fox 4 News [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyoQxyisIyw (above, as embedded; no comments yet)]. They're scared to come out to a place like this and stand in front of a mosque and protest Islam.

"People should recognize that we are peaceful and we are a group of self defense minded people. There's nothing wrong with that."

There has been an alarming increase in Islamophobic incidents [ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/all-the-islamophobic-acts-in-us-canada-since-paris_564cee09e4b031745cef9dda ] since the Nov. 13 attacks on Paris. A mosque in Pflugerville, Texas, was defaced with feces and torn pages of the Quran [ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/texas-mosque-piggy-bank_564d0407e4b00b7997f92dca ]. In Ontario, Canada, was police said a mosque was deliberately set on fire [ https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/police-canada-mosque-deliberately-set-on-fire/2015/11/15/b46aa7aa-8be9-11e5-934c-a369c80822c2_story.html ].

CAIR said in a statement [ http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Armed-Anti-Islam-Group-Publishes-Home-Addresses-of-Texas-Muslims---Muslim-Sympathizers----NY-City-Muslims-Cope-with-Backlash.html?soid=1103010792410&aid=QmAfaiYWk2U ] that it has received more reports about acts of Islamophobic discrimination, intimidation, threats, and violence targeting American Muslims -- or those perceived to be Muslim -- and Islamic institutions in the week and a half since the Paris attacks "than during any other limited period of time since the 9/11 terror attacks."

Irving also happens to be the home of Ahmed Mohamed [ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/ahmed-mohamed-15-million-dollars-damages_565363fbe4b0258edb3263e0 ], the 14-year-old boy of Sudanese origin whose homemade clock was mistaken for a bomb at school.
