I agree with you, Tomtom. They definitely pulled the disclaimer for a reason. But the timing is what interests me, as well. That's a task the webmaster can do within a few seconds. So if there were much more time to go before an announcement, why not just leave it up, and keep the wolves at bay? I think they're about ready, and it was simply time to take it down, in preparation for news, and the launch of a nicely refined website.
And the fact that they addressed the Mozilla situation, on a Saturday night, after a holiday, says they really want this thing polished for launch. That site is not sitting idle this weekend. These guys are on it.
