The people of both Beirut and Paris are in my prayers.
I only wish the governments of the world would have gotten together in Syria two years ago instead of in Libya and squashed Isis and created a no fly zone where Assad could not continually bomb and use chemicals on his own people.
Khadafy , who regardless of his brutal ways and past terroristic actions, had in fact become an ally of the western world and a source of helpful information to the western intelligence communities over the past decade. He gave a royal reception to Condi Rice and countless western European leaders in the more recent years. He withdrew from his nuclear ambitions after he saw the fate of Saddam Hussein. He went out of his way to extend well wishes to Obama when he was first elected and praised the American people for electing someone of African heritage.
Yet, simply on the "threat" , not actual action yet, that Khadafy would bomb and obliterate what he termed radical al-quaeda and other radical insurgents , the US and the western world were quick to align against him to topple him. Now you see the result as Libya is like the wild west and a bastion for many extreme groups. The Benghazi debacle was also an end result of this policy. Bush cannot be blamed for Libya. Libya was an ally under Bush. Bush can certainly be blamed for Iraq. But yet this administration who so sharply has blamed Bush(rightfully) for Iraq and continues to do so to this day, obviously learned nothing from it as they went ahead and destabilized Libya the exact same way.
Yet on the other hand you had Syria bombing his people and not just threatening but actually crossing the red line and using chemicals on his people , and even if you don't believe that he used chemicals , its indisputable he slaughtered his own people.
Yet there was no alliance of world powers at the time doing anything of substance to stop it. The US and other western leaders procrastinated for two years before they even had a semi-coherent policy. We allowed Isis to establish a base in Iraq and Syria and to grow. Days like the last couple in Beirut and Paris are a result. The so-called Jayvee Team has proven to be much more than that and its time the world get together and destroy them by any and all means. Evil must be confronted. We had to confront Hitler. We have to confront this. The barbaric acts being committed every day against the people in the territories they hold needs to be crushed.
Many countries had no problem getting together to take out Khadafy. They need to get together again for this cause which is much more just than the reasons they went after Libya. Whatever mistakes have been made by whoever is over and done. The world needs to act now. The world need to put this group on the run and the defensive as was done to al-quaeda where they were all on the run and hiding in caves and elsewhere. I agree with the French President that the response must be merciless. That's all these people understand.
I agree with whoever here said that its not the fault of the refugees and they are simply fleeing from this same sort of terror. Can terrorists sneak in with these refugees moving throughout the world, I would guess yes. But the best way to solve this refugee crisis is for the world to get together to destroy and eradicate this evil from the areas they control. If the world does this, these refugees can return home.
We can never eradicate this type of evil all together as is evidence with al-quaeda but the world can certainly get together and weaken them dramatically and send them into hiding and on the run. It would have been much easier to do this two years ago before they were as established and dug into the various areas , but the world must do it now nonetheless.
