MARYVILLE, MO (KTVI) – Police at Northwest Missouri State University arrested a student Wednesday morning for making threats overnight via social media.
According to campus police, 19-year-old Connor Stottlemeyer was arrested at his on-campus dorm around 11 a.m.
Stottlemeyer’s arrest came after police received reports of threats against African-Americans made via the social media application Yik Yak.
University police sent an email alert to students, faculty, and staff around 8:30 a.m., notifying them of the threat and subsequent investigation.
Authorities have not announced charges against Stottlemeyer as of yet. He remains in custody at Nodaway County Jail.
Maryville is about 330 miles northwest of St. Louis.
