Starbucks cups: I don't have a dog in the fight as there are no starbucks shops where i live. My starbucks cups are invisible. But the religiously correct followers of Jebus are all verklempt about the cups being in xmas colors without overt symbolism of the dominion of their beliefs. Good grief.

It isn't like the past ones were a cylindrical Passion Play. The tradition started in 1998 or so, and they depicted things like snowflakes, hand-drawn reindeer, snowmen, etc. Not exactly designed to swell the collection plates in church.

But the self-described persecuted christians somehow feel that red cups with a green logo on them are an assault on their ability to pray, or something. The tradition of people drawing on their cups is actually facilitated by having a plain paper canvas to express themselves, but festive christians apparently have little imagination or creativity.

If Trump, Carson or whoever is the loudest about it would just say that the red cups are symbolic of the spilled blood of non-believers, the truly zealous would probably fall to their knees instead of bleating like a herd of dutiful sheep.

Sometimes a cup is just a cup. And free publicity is just that, free publicity. My guess is that the snootiest of starbucks sippers seldom visit church anyway. But christians seem to need outrage to keep their flock in line.
