Dozens of former employees of the mining Petaquilla Gold protested yesterday on the steps of the Supreme Court to require the magistrate Hernán De León an explanation of the admission of a Guarantee Amparo presented by the company.
Members of the Industrial Union of Mining Companies and Allied Panama, demanded the judge to expedite the process and they 'surprised that two months after the company filed the Amparo, it decided to admit on 15 October. The appeal suspends any process against mining, including a resolution of the Ministry of Trade and Industry which canceled the gold mining concession to the company for non-payment of royalties to the state.
