Petaquilla must pay more than $ 2 million in compensation to the Industrial Union of Mining Companies and Allied Panama.

The Industrial Union of Mining Companies and Allied Panama (SITMAP), was notified of a failure of process that was carried in the national leadership of the Ministry of Labor and Workforce Development (Mitradel), with the mining company Petaquilla.
Eric de León, a member of SITMAP, said the ministry ruling in favor of the union, on compensation, condemning the mining pay more than $ 2 million to about 400 workers their due.
De Leon said they are awaiting the decision of the labor court, where another process on acquired rights as vacations, back wages, takes tenths, among others.
The only clamor of the 600 mine workers, is that they cancel their payments due to their foreheads debts owed to banks, alimony, houses, and others.
Workers have staged protests in order to achieve their due payments.
