Brick & Mortar Retail does seem to be a thing of the past.
Try buying parts for a higher end PC rig, even in the city. It's damn near impossible to find the parts anymore, especially with the larger chains.
As for Radio Shack, it's been many years since I've visited one of their stores, just like Kmart, Sears, and a few others of those dying retail chains.
Radio Shack used to be the place to go in the 90s for hardware, pcs, radios, etc. I remember receiving a very nice shortwave radio for Christmas one year, and it wasn't long before it needed repair, and all I can recall is how unimpressed I was with the cost and service of it. Kind of like sending in your PC to bestbuy to have it "fixed". LOL
I typically prefer online retailers now due to the costs and convenience factors. You can shop around for the lowest price, and often receive free shipping. Oh, and the best part is that you don't have a salesclerk breathing down your neck to try and sell you something you don't need.
Just yesterday a co-worker of mine commented about my keyring that I had out. They couldn't help but notice my old blockbuster membership card attached, and called it throwback Thursday. Now you see.... I do kind of miss blockbuster somewhat..... minus their rental fees of course. Most retailers (radioshack included) however, I miss very little.
