"The European Parliament objected to the Commission delegated directive (C(2015)00383), amending, for the purposes of adapting to technical progress, Annex III to Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards an exemption for cadmium in illumination and display lighting applications. Current exemption 39 of RoHS 2 Annex III remains valid until a decision is taken by the Commission on applications 2013-2 and 2013-5; the process to update the related scientific assessment was launched at the end of August 2015; the new assessment should be available in the second quarter of 2016."
