Will FDA warnings prompt innovation in over-the-counter painkillers?
"Americans spent $3.9 billion in 2014 on internal analgesics — over-the-counter pain relievers and fever reducers — according to the Consumer Healthcare Products Association. Then there are opioids, powerful painkillers such as Oxycodone and Codeine."
"Rech added that while drugs such as Tylenol and ibuprofen are effective painkillers, the new concern about side effects may incentivize innovation in developing and improving painkillers."
