You said yourself that you found Patrick Cox's picks only good for trading. You say you're not interested in trading random penny stocks. Why not, if they're just as good for trading? To a trader it is irrelevant whether a business is doing interesting and worthwhile things. All that matters is that he can make better than random guesses about whether the stock will go up or down.

I think the best reason to read Cox might be to find good short candidates -- wait for the Cox pop, and then short. Unfortunately that works only for shortable stocks, which doesn't include OTC stocks, which is what many of Cox's picks are. (NNVC wasn't shortable by mere mortals until it got listed on the AMEX. For those who were eager to see NNVC stock get listed on a major exchange, you should have been careful what you wished for.)
