Infrax made a basic comm board for the meter. There's a 5 pin plug in connector. Any Power company can make their own Comm board or select the basic board. There's no ANSI approvals on any of the comm boards. There's an end user agreement for assuming responsibility.
There's a product code number for selecting features just like the MSFT product code number. The Infrax board is one of the features like the shut off relays. Any power company that designs there own feature can register it as feature with Itron. They actually started this with the Centron I.
