I'm sure there are plenty of big egos to go around among private doctors, private industry and the FDA. But to suggest that a valuable treatment is being withheld for a devastating disease because of a personality conflict I find ridiculous. As the 17 experts in the letter suggest in not-too-subtle fashion ie the 5 FDA divisions ampligen was bounced around in, the characterized CFS symptoms by the FDA, the diet drug conditional approvals and on an on - take square aim, rightfully so, at the FDA. A treatment IND is a presumption of effectiveness. Hemispherx has treated patients under this IND since 1997. It's the FDA does not look good, IMO.
