With another offer from somebody above $10+ most certainly in Ariad's future, ultimately, the shorts are doomed. Friday was a wake up call for shorters who cared little about the name. The shorters who know Ariad better are having a much worse weekend.

I believe the number of shorts remaining in the 35-40M+ range. Yesterdays actual 'covering' volume was far less once you eliminate from the total volume the front running HFT trades that probably accounted for 40%+ of the 39M. A lot of momentum players hopped in and out. Long termers built a position. That leaves, IMO, much less than 10M covering.

Any short attack next week will be 'short' lived. Some may play a brief pullback. But ultimately, this stock just became unstable dynamite for current or future shorts looking for a big score.
