Overnight quad-leader Bubba Watson connected from 12'3" at the par-4 18th hole at Plainfield Country Club in today's second round of The Barclays to touch 2-under-par 34-34=68 and post 7-under 133 at the midpoint, good for outright possession of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
The lefty found only four (of 14) fairways and 11 greens in regulation today, but he limited the damage to two bogeys while holing four birdies. The conversion at the last was his longest, but he also poured one in from 10'3" at the par-4 15th hole. At last check, Watson led the field in distance off the tee (332.9 yards) and strokes gained: tee-to-green (8.182). However, he's missed 17 of 28 fairways, thus proving that bomb-and-gouge still works like a charm on a short track with challenging rough.
