The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Tuesday released 2014 performance information on the 333 accountable are organizations in its Medicare Shared Savings Program, and while many organizations missed out on payments, 92 of them reduced spending by a combined $806 million, resulting in more than $341 million in payouts.

The Texas-based Memorial Hermann Accountable Care Organization led the results, saving Medicare more than $52 million and generating a shared savings payout of more than $22 million. Florida's Palm Beach Accountable Care Organization also earned a $14 million payout by saving Medicare $32 million while Michigan's POM ACO earned a $12 million payout after it saved Medicare $27 million.

However, most ACOs failed to generate enough savings. In fact, many Track 1 ACOs, which have not entered the risk phase of the programs, spent millions more than CMS benchmarked for them and would have paid penalties to the government if they were in a later track of the program.

The table below shows the full 2014 results for Medicare Shared Savings ACOs, sortable by spending and searchable by name and state.
