Tourists attacked outside downtown Metro tunnel entrance

SEATTLE -- Seattle police have beefed up patrols in the downtown area after a group of suspects robbed three tourists late Monday night outside a Metro tunnel entrance.
The victims, a man and two women visiting from Rhode Island, were walking out of the bus tunnel at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street just after 11 p.m. when they passed a group of men and women, say Seattle police.
A woman in the group accused one of the victims of bumping into her. When they apologized, the woman burned one of the male tourists with a lit cigarette.
The group of suspects stole a cellphone from the victims and struck the 29-year-old man in the head with a broken bottle when he shouted for help. The suspects then punched the two female victims, ages 23 and 24, in the face.
When police arrived at the scene, the suspects had fled. However, police arrested a man at the scene who interfered with medics' efforts to treat the victims. Police were investigating whether the man was involved in the robbery.
The victims provided police few details of the group of suspects. They did describe the woman who burned the male victim as a black female in her 20s, 5'8"-5'10" tall, with a heavy building. She reportedly wore a brown jacket, grey shirt and jeans.
