Yes I agree with both you and Cburg, when using a fuel cell car you can store enough hydrogen in a reasonable size tank, under lower pressures. The numbers I presented were in responce to the aircraft discussion, and applies to combustion based engines. However, when looking at converting to a hydrogen economy we have to consider the price of a fuel cell vrs combustion engine. From everything I can find a single fuel cell with enough power for a car cost +$100,000. Normally you can bring cost down through mass production, but that will not work in this situation due to the amount of platinum required. In fact since the bulk of a fuel
Cell cost is material, mass production could possible drive the cost of a fuel cell higher as the demand for platinum rises. This is why the FC cars in the California project are lease only; not many people can afford to buy them. Basically, until we find a cheaper material to build fuel cell out of, FC cars will be impractical for mass production.
