Both are great areas.

I lived in Redstone Arsenal Alabama, home of Werner von Braun, the great initiator of rocket development in the USA after the WWII.

I think I would prefer Lexington Kentucky, all things being equal.
Horse farms, University of Kentucky, and a great quality of life.
Your accent will fit in just fine there, too.
