China Mobile HK, Ericsson demo LTE-A FDD+TDD 3CC CA

China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK), in partnership with Ericsson, has completed a live demonstration of LTE-A FDD+TDD three-component carriers (3CC) carrier aggregation. The two companies demonstrated the applications available for a converged LTE-A FDD/TDD 4G combined network, and achieved a peak download speed of 272 Mbps in a FDD+TDD 3CC LTE-A network.

The demonstration was performed on China Mobile Hong Kong’s network, using Ericsson FDD+TDD carrier aggregation technology and TM500 network testers supplied by Cobham Wireless. In the demonstration, one 15 MHz LTE FDD carrier in the 2.6 GHz band was aggregated with two TD-LTE carriers in the 2.3 GHz band (one 20 MHz and one 10 MHz carrier) via carrier aggregation technology.

China Mobile Hong Kong plans to officially open a TDD 2CC LTE-A network in Hong Kong soon, and introduce its FDD+TDD 2CC LTE-A network and 3CC LTE-A network in 2016
