Gosh dang it mills, the market maker usually doesn't show his true position. As an example if I wanted to sell 1 million shares I would only show an offer for 10k so I don't spook the market. I would also have my trader 'catch' any stock that he could without even being seen.

You don't work directly with market makers so you don't even know this stuff. My accounts are with market makers, not retail brokers.

I can trade 2 million shares a day in this stock and you would never even see me on the bid or ask.
