Look, no one is saying Mr. Carter doesn't warrant a great deal of responsibility for this fiasco. But it's more probable that Carter received bad advice from folks within his "inner circle" who deluded themselves to think they were the smartest guys in the room. Yes, it was wrong to stretch the true a bit, relative to some of the charges. It's probable they were thinking those actions were necessary to keep the company afloat. But not to fraudulently bilk and abscond with ill-gotten gains. Carter foolishly bought in on such behavior, but it happens. Case in point, Donald Trump just recently admitted to presenting false numbers involving financial and business matters. Now, not to say "The Donald" has submitted false financials and other corporate documents to the SEC. But he readily intimate he has done this, and further commented, "doesn't everyone?", or something to that affect. So, the REVO folks made terrible mistakes, but to commit down-right fraud; the odds are the jury is still out on that one.
