You are correct, the shareholders do own the company. But their ultimate power is limited when it comes to the CEO. My point really was that we can talk all day about replacing the CEO, but we don't have the authority to do so. I think the reason for this is so disgruntled individuals don't act on their on.

Once we establish the chain of command responsibilty, we move past the things we
we can't control, like firing the CEO and on to the things we can control like holding the BOD accountable for the share price.
