I know a very prominent Infectious Disease specialist a bit socially, well, his son really. He specializes in Entero and Retro viruses which he believes cause a significant subset of people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A really ugly disease for sufferers from the way he explains it and very few recover significantly. These things love the brain. He became interested in it when his son became ill. He was one of the lucky ones and responded to a Chinese herbal medication and is well now.
I mentioned ddRNAi to him a while back and Benitec and asked him to look into it. He seemed very positive about it when I talked to him a few months ago. He said the various Echo and Coxsackie forms could very well be "gettable" if the Hep C trial is successful which he also treats on a regular basis. He is following the trial with much interest and is familiar with Calimmune as well since he also treats HIV/AIDS.
The reason I mention this is these are the people we need interested in this. Brilliant scientific minds collaborating to put as many of these nasty diseases in the past tense so millions of people suffering around the world can get their lives back. First, targeted antivirals, second maybe the one shot cure guys. I sure hope these viruses/virii are somewhere in the minds of Suhy and Graham as potential future targets. But first there is TT-034 and the jury is still out. Oh, to be a fly on the wall during the next liver biopsy.
