It is possible, but they will need to deal with the same timelines, bureaucracy, not to mention establish support/supply networks, hire a professional team, and do it all as a startup cost. Funding is of course an integral part of the picture.
Unless you know that they are squandering current investor money, they are ahead of anyone that wants to jump in. The only other possibility is where a large company (Google, Apple - someone with bucks) jumps in, but their best bet would be to simply pick up Kallo as a long term flyer. (actually, I like that idea!)
