The door is locked for security reasons. I also stopped by their office, and employees have key cards (key fobs) to get into the office. The fob is located right outside their door. VERY COMMON with tech companies. Looks like your friend is not very observant, or maybe you're just omitting certain facts. I noticed many other office doors in the same Von Karman building Adaptive is located with key fobs. Nothing unusual. Let's move on.
