The numbers are staggering. Conventional methods can extract only 20-40% of crude oil of well capacity so 60% of oil never gets recovered and has to be recovered using EOR. That is nearly 35 years of oil supply. The problem with CO2 flooding is that you need abundant amount of CO2 and ship it to the desired location which again is big challenge. Kinder Morgan was only company who did experiment on this and were able to extract sizable amount of stranded oil but not many companies can afford it.
