Excellent expose, Cassandra!.

Though I imagine that all the parts needed for the drone would bump the cost up into the 300-500 range, if not a bit more. Edit Here's a listing for about $2500. Granted, that doesn't include the flight controller or camera.

That's still a fraction of DSUS' ludicrous $6900 price tag.

The frame does seem to be of reasonable quality...is 680mm in diameter. I looked but didn't find what the payload would be.

A friend of mine showed me his octocopter three years ago. It may have been close to 3 feet across..... I think it could carry about 3 pounds, meaning it could handle a small DSLR or pro movie camera. I'm guessing it cost $3000-10,000
