Well that's why they've brought on some heavy hitters to help them through this process. The company may have issues but they are not stupid enough to complete their filings (paying for them in the process) and not have a plan to get back to trading.

Why would they waste the money over the last couple of months?

Bring in the heavy hitters and let them work with the SEC to get this resolved. It's not over until the fat lady sings and she's not even in the limo headed to the theater.
