My thoughts on this?
Here you go.

If I was doing this. I would be on the cheap as well. Until I had to step up to the plate and put money down. Like most universities with ongoing research. There are limitations on what you can and cannot afford. I believe they are proving their technology with with a certain amount of grant money. Even though I have not tracked down the school grants or even really want to. I compare what they are doing to what I did as a mechanical enginner when graduating. I had to design and build an automated palet wrapper for under $800. Which was possible because I did it.

Now in their case, they have school equipment to work with and grad students trying to publish their papers and projects with next to no money to work with. If they did have a credit line, then you would see it in the financials and Sgt. Pecker would have been busting our balls with a growing defeceit. When I see what they have accomplished without blasting their financials. Tells me they are working within their constraints the best way they can and I am cool with that. This is not a normal R&D facility where you have to pay for space, equipment and material at retail price. I also think once they get to where there design parameters are met. You will see an increase in R&D spending, because they will need comercial grad material and possibly contractors to build it if they cannot talk another area of the school to build it for them. Like the mechanical engineer school of that university.

Which may be going on now. Some poor student made the choice and decided to take on their project or part of it. Due to the fact that they can get more design work for nothing if students do it. The only draw back is you have to wait on an engineering grad student to verify and join all of the junior engineers design work. This is not the same as a major company like GE dropping millions into their R$D center.

Now as far as the ceo making 250k. It takes money for someone to run a company. I am pleased he does not make to much more than I do. If I had to prove on paper how I made 170k last year. You probably would not invest a dime in me. Even though I brought up close to 15 turbines last year which was a slow year. Even though I was responcible for parts, labor, hours and keeping everything within my budget.

Just my thoughts
