Mortgage rates rise heading into holiday weekend

The average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 4.08%, the highest rate since October and up from 4.02% in the prior week, according to the latest report from Freddie Mac.

The average rate for the 15-year fixed increased to 3.24% from 3.21% in the prior week.

A year ago, the respective 30- and 15-year rates averaged 4.12% and 3.22%.
