European stocks surged on renewed optimism about a possible deal between Greece and its creditors.
The pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 rose 1.6% after it emerged that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had sent creditors a new proposal for budget cuts and policy overhauls.
However, European officials cautioned that the proposals fall short of the creditors' demands.
