correct - but not why you think....

Google was aware of Lycos patent since they tried to patent the exact same concept. USPTO said "no Lycos owns that patent and Yahoo owns the other patent." Google then PAID Yahoo to use patent and stole Lycos patent since they figured Lycos was Carnegie Mellon project on its last legs.

Oracle vs Google was about 7 lines of GPL JAVA code in a code base of 16 million lines.

So yes VRNG/Lycos infringement much more blatant than 7 lines of GPL code.
