hookrider -- that flag, those statues/monuments, are not your great-grandfathers -- if somebody were to deface or vandalize their own gravesites, then you'd have a beef that someone was actually dishonoring them

didn't your great-grandfathers have anything to commend them other than the fact that they fought for the Confederacy? -- which itself was, after all, a brazenly treasonous seccessionist movement which launched, and lost, a war on this country, the United States of America, a war that left well over half a million, if not indeed a full million, dead, and that was, as you have been shown (e.g. [linked in] http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=114914205 and preceding and following), as explicitly as it could possibly have been a war far and away above all to defend and keep the enslavement of blacks in the Confederacy (and to extend that enslavement beyond the Confederacy into new territories)? -- where, exactly, was there any honor in that?

your great-grandfathers lived where and when they did, got caught up in that war, and did their duty as they saw it, as they were called upon to do -- OK, fine; that was that time and place, and that's how things then were and went, now more than 150 years ago -- but then again, now, in this time, so what?

you can see things as you wish and assert to the contrary all you want, but this, now, is not about dishonoring, or asking you to dishonor, your great-grandfathers -- that is not the point

if you haven't watched that entire eulogy Obama gave yesterday, at http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=114968520 as I linked for you, you really should (I see now [ http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=114977143 ] that you've at least browsed through the transcript; Obama said, and said well, plenty more there that bears on this discussion)

with respect, hookrider -- not that you particularly care what I think, perhaps especially not right now, but in my book you're a good man and always have been, and this discussion doesn't change that
